2017 Week #2 Rankings – PA/NJ Region

Donegal (Mount Joy, PA) holds onto the #1 spot in the Week #2 PA/NJ Rankings.  The Indians attack has put away 56 goals through 6 games, with Pennsylvania Preseason Player of the Year Mackenzie Allessie contributing 23 goals and 10 assists (on two 3-goal games, three 4-goal games and one 5-goal game).  At the other end of the field, 1st Team All-American goalkeeper Katie Jean (Wake Forest commit) has only allowed 2 goals.  This week Penn Manor (Millersville, PA) gets the nod ahead of Emmaus (Emmaus, PA) after registering a 4-0 week that included a 5-0 win over then ranked #17 Hershey (Hershey, PA).

Perhaps the biggest news of the week was #3 ranked Emmaus Head Coach Sue Butz-Stavin recording her 900th coaching victory.  The all-time winningest coach in High School field hockey history continues to pull away from the rest and it is hard to believe that anyone will ever be able to match her incredible career and success.  A side note on that 900th win game.. a 2-1 win in overtime against Parkland– Parkland senior goalkeeper Gabrielle Barraco (Penn State commit) recorded 40 saves in the loss!  An incredible feat in itself.

Newcomers to this week’s Top 20 include #16 Wyoming Seminary (Kingston, PA) who are off to a strong 6-0 start and were probably overlooked by not being included in the Preseason/Week #1 Rankings, and #19 Exeter Township (Reading, PA) who have knocked off #14 Oley Valley, #12 Twin Valley and just beat that same Parkland team that Emmaus took to overtime, 4-0.
