PowerHouse Field Hockey: A New Club in Town

“Somewhere behind the athlete you’ve become and the hours of practice and the coaches who have pushed you is a little girl who fell in love with the game and never looked back… play for her.”

This legendary quote from my childhood hero, Mia Hamm, defines the true essence of our athletic careers, and is the driving force for our mission to start a new club team, PowerHouse Field Hockey.

Meet the Head Coaches:

Lauren Pfeiffer – a former USA National Team player (2009-2015), University of Iowa graduate, All-American, and recipient of numerous Big Ten Awards and Academic Honors in her tenure.

And me, Stefanie Fee – a 2016 Rio Olympian, USA National Team Player (2012 – Current), and Duke University graduate with All-American and Academic All-American Honors.

If anyone were to guess the fundamental aspect to our accomplishments, there is no doubt that hard work would be the initial answer. Hard work is indeed the engine to success. Everything that we go onto do in our lives is centered around the work that we put in every single day. From your education to your extra-curricular activities, they all have a part to play in your success. Not forgetting that the skills and experience you have gained during this time will look great on your resume, especially if you enlist the help of somewhere like Arc Resumes to make it look as good as possible. From here, you could say that the world is your oyster.

In reference to the quote above, the athlete you become is a direct result of the hours of practice you put in, on top of the guidance, instruction, and demand from the coaches in your life. Our embrace of the daily grind and the physical, mental, and emotional strain to push the limits of our comfort zones led to the achievements that Lauren and I are proud of today. But it is important to note: An athlete’s greatest potential can only be reached when the engine of our hard work is fueled by a burning passion for the game.

“Somewhere behind the athlete you’ve become… is a little girl who fell in love with the game… play for her.” Lauren, from Mount Laurel, NJ and me, a Virginia Beach, VA native both began playing field hockey in 7^th Grade. At the core of the sport we found in middle school was the exhilarating opportunity to simply play! This form of childlike play, unhindered by expectations and results, allowed us to fall in love with field hockey. Throughout our Olympic, National and Collegiate Field Hockey careers, with the high stress of performance and representing both our Institutions and America, we have never lost the true essence of play and love in field hockey.

Lauren and I have embarked on a journey to coach one of the hardest working club teams in America, while also helping each athlete stay in tune with their passion for the game. We are PowerHouse Field Hockey. The ‘Power’ represents our mission to build the complete athlete through sharpening basic and elite level skills, and empowering each player with strength and speed to take their game to the next level. Our ‘House’ defines the importance of our field hockey family and taking care of each other in order to be the best team we can be. We invite you to attend our tryouts April 28^th At the Proving Grounds in Conshohocken, PA. There’s a new club in town.
