2026 MAX Field Hockey/Longstreth High School National Invitational

REGISTRATION & EVENT DETAILS

The High School National Invitational is where the top High School teams in the nation come together to compete against the best of the best.  In 2025, 64 of the nation’s top teams from 12 different states competed over 3 days in 70 official NFHS games, including 20 of the 2025 Preseason National Top 25 Teams and a total of 21 State Champions from 2024, including all 4 from Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York.

All teams ranked in the MAX Field Hockey 2025 High School Final National Top 25 Rankings and/or Final Regional Top 20 Rankings automatically earn a spot at the 2026 MAX Field Hockey/Longstreth High School National Invitational at The Proving Grounds, September 18-20, 2026.  Teams must register by March 1^st to secure their spot.  Teams that automatically earned a spot, but do not register by March 1^st may still be able to get a spot, but there is no guarantee and the longer you wait, the less likely that is as we fill in teams from the application process.

2025 FINAL NATIONAL TOP 25 & REGIONAL TOP 20 RANKINGS (To be released: November 25th)

Other interested teams, including teams that finished as “Others Considered,” may submit an application to be considered for the 2025 Invitational.  In March, we will begin evaluating applications and accepting the top teams that we can accommodate.

Teams must specify when they can play.  The invitational has experienced so much growth over the last several years that we need to take additional measures to assure we can make the schedule work with fields and secure enough PIAA officials to cover the games, which is a condition of our NFHS and PIAA sanctioning.  We will be tracking our field space and game allowance as teams register much more closely this year.

DATES: September 18-20, 2026

GAME TIMES:  Friday (3pm, 5pm, 7pm), Saturday (9am, 11am, 1pm, 3pm, 5pm, 7pm), Sunday (9am, 11am, 1pm).  Please note: Friday games fill up fast and we cannot guarantee Friday games for everyone- first come, first served.

SCHEDULING: Teams’ travel plans, individual state association’s rules, coach’s preferences, MAX Field Hockey’s rankings and expectations for 2026 are among the many criteria considered when putting together match-ups.  Once the field of teams is finalized, we will send out a scheduling request form to all coaches where you can rank and say yes/no/maybe to which teams you are interested in playing.

LOCATION: The Proving Grounds (725 Conshohocken Rd, Conshohocken, PA 19428)

FIELDS: 7 identical turf fields striped for field hockey with lights and bleachers (All 7 turf fields are identical surfaces and the turf fiber height (1/4 inch shorter than standard fields) and consistency were specifically chosen to provide superior play for field hockey), plus 1 water-based Division 1 field hockey field (FIH Global Certified)–limited availability as it is the home field of Villanova University Field Hockey.

FORMAT: All games are official regulation NFHS games: 4×15 minute quarters with 2 minutes between quarters 1 and 2 and between 3 and 4, with a 5-10 minute half-time.  We will be playing overtime if necessary and will follow the PIAA overtime rules and procedures outlined below (1x 10 minute sudden victory, 6 fields players and a gk).

COST: 2 games = $795, 3 games = $1,075.  A $200 non-refundable deposit is due upon your acceptance to secure your spot. Balance due June 1, 2026.  Please make checks Payable to: “MAXFH-PG Events” and mail to: 600 Old Elm Street Suite 100, Conshohocken, PA 19428.  We have had to chase too many teams down for payment even as late as after the event.  If your balance is not paid by June 1st, we will not be able to put you on the schedule.  If your school will not submit payment by then, please find a way to pay the fee in total and get reimbursed after if necessary.

WEATHER POLICY:  In the event of inclement weather and full days missed, there may be a portion of your fee refunded or credited towards the following years. We will NOT refund or credit for portion of games being missed. The event reserves the right to alter all schedules in order to keep participants safe and/or to keep on time.

EXTRAS: We will provide A level officials, athletic trainers, water and ice.  REQUIRED: The team designated as the “Home Team” is required to provide an official scorer for the score table for that game.  That individual or individuals will be responsible for the scoreboard and home team book. “Home Team” must also provide official NFHS game balls.  We will provide dimple balls for all games on the Villanova water-based turf field.

INVITED TEAMS: All teams finishing in the Final 2025 MAX Field Hockey’s National Top 25 and/or Regional Top 20 Ranking are automatically invited to the 2025 National Invitational.  “Others Considered” teams will need to submit an application.  We are encouraging additional interested teams to submit an application and we will evaluate beginning in March.

TEAM/GAME LIMIT: The level in 2026 will be kept elite and the best of the best. We expect to have record interest again and to have to limit the number of teams and games in 2026 to what we can accommodate with field space and A level PIAA officials.   The total number of teams accepted will depend on how many games each team requests to play and when teams can play (Roughly 65-70 teams/70-80 games).

STAY TO PLAY POLICY: This is a STAY TO PLAY tournament.  All non-commuting teams participating in the tournament  MUST (as a condition of acceptance) make all hotel accommodations using our tournament housing services.  Please do not call the hotels directly.
