The Hill School (Pottstown, Pennsylvania) enters the 2025 season as the top High School team in the nation.  The Rams were unstoppable in 2024, claiming PAISAA and MAPL titles, outscoring opponents 115-6, including victories over 7 teams in our Final 2024 National Top 25 Rankings and finishing 22-0 as MAX Field Hockey’s 2024 “National Champions.”  Even with the graduation of two First Team All-Americans and four Team USA players, Hill returns the most stacked roster in the country.  Headlined by the senior trio of Top 10 ranked players Sofia Ferri (University of North Carolina), Abby Gerdeman (Duke University), and Opal Sparling (Stanford University), the talent doesn’t stop there.  Add in Top 10 ranked junior Haley Elliott, who was named the “Top Midfielder” at the MAX Field Hockey Class of 2027 Top 150 National Player Invitational back in May, Top 50 ranked U16 National Team player Claire Turner, senior Top 100 Goalkeeper Caeleigh Schuster (University of Connecticut) who transfers in from Long Island.  Hill will once again be hard to beat if 2nd year Head Coach Katherine Bowie can put all the pieces together.

Look out for #2 Academy of Notre Dame de Namur (Villanova, Pennsylvania) not far behind, with their own star-studded roster of 10 ranked players, including senior Top 10 player Reese Milone (Princeton University) and the addition of sophomore standout Camilla Lutte transferring in from Wissahickon.  Lutte was named “Top Forward” at the MAX Field Hockey Class of 2028 Top 100 National Player Invitational.  #1 The Hill School and #2 Academy of Notre Dame de Namur will meet up October 1st in Pottstown.  Both squads will face several Top 25 tests between now and then, each having among the most difficult strength of schedules in the nation.

MORE ON MAX FIELD HOCKEY’S RANKINGS

MAX Field Hockey’s Preseason High School Rankings are based heavily on the previous Fall’s Final Rankings and team performances.  As much as possible, seniors graduated and key returning players are taken into consideration, but complete information is not always available for each program.  Historic dominance and success at the highest level and in the postseason are a major factor.  MAX Field Hockey’s general ranking philosophy: you must prove it on the field and beat the best and ranked teams to move onto and up the rankings!  As that happens, these rankings will change.

Please Note: Preseason and early scrimmage/playday results and feedback are very difficult to find and are generally not factored into these preseason rankings.  If you would like to pass along information we may have missed from early season play, please email us so we can take that into consideration for Week #1 rankings!

MAX Field Hockey always welcomes feedback on the High School Rankings.  Think we missed someone or that a team should be ranked higher or lower?  Email us: admin@maxfieldhockey.com
