Why did you choose this school: Duke University has a world renown academic and athletic reputation. It’s campus is beyond stunning and it offers a diverse culture of people. Most of all, I fell in love with the authenticity and heart of Duke’s coaching staff and their ability to make me not only a better player but a person in general.
What will you major in/study: I would ultimately like to enroll in Duke’s School of Medicine to pursue a degree in the medical field.
Other colleges considered: Ohio State University, Columbia University, John Hopkins University
Anyone you would like to thank: I would like to thank Coach Bustin, Coach Boersma, and Coach Drew at Duke University for providing me a great opportunity to continue my field hockey career at such an outstanding university.
I would also like to thank all of my high school coaches at Johnstown, Christine Krempa, Jeanine LoDestro, Jeff Krempa, Denise Benton & Dave Sargent. I would also like to thank my ADK club coaches, Phil & Jen Sykes, Andy Thornton, Michelle Simpson and Melissa Nealon. Their guidance and coaching has allowed me to develop as a player and reach my goals.
A heartfelt thank you to my high school and ADK teammates who push me to be a better athlete and the best version of myself. A special shout out to my ride-or-die, Emily Fleming, for being by my side every step of the way on this amazing journey.
Finally, I want to thank my parents for always being there for me from my first moments stepping onto a field to the present day. The countless hours my mom has spent getting me to and from my practices, tournaments, etc and doing whatever was needed to help my field hockey development is something I will always be thankful for. Their continued encouragement and belief in me no matter what challenge I face, has helped me realize I can accomplish whatever I set out to do.
