Week #4 Rankings – PA/NJ Region

The Top 6 teams remain unchanged in this week’s PA/NJ Region Top 20 Rankings.  #1 Donegal, our top team in the region and nation, registered a convincing 3-0 win on the road over then #7 ranked Lower Dauphin on Saturday, showing once again that they belong at the top.  Wyoming Valley West enters the Top 10 at #7 at 10-1 with their lone loss at the hands of #1 Donegal in OT.  The biggest entry this week is Selinsgrove Area.  The Seals enter the Top 20 at #11 at 11-1 with their lone loss back in early September to #7 Wyoming Valley West (score: 1-0), and with quality wins over Holy Redeemer and Wyoming Seminary last week.  Hershey also returns to the Top 20 at #18 with nice wins over Palmyra and Central Dauphin last week.

And sorry, but we just couldn’t do it- this week we have our first ever tie in the rankings and 21 teams included in a region.  Conestoga and Palmyra Area both come in tied at #20.  The two teams have six losses between them, but they are all to ranked opponents and they play the toughest competition in the state and country.  All 21 of these teams deserve to be ranked this week and so we made an exception!

This upcoming week will be an interesting one for this region.  We have our first big PA/NJ ranked match-up with #6 Eastern Regional and #12 Wyoming Seminary meeting up on Saturday.  We have a very PA-heavy Top 20 with only 4 of our current teams being from New Jersey.  We will see if we are right or if we have been under-valuing some of these Others Considered jersey teams.
